Rockwood students in grades 2 and 4 will participate in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) during the district window of September 16-27, 2019. The CogAT is a short abilities assessment that is used to evaluate the reasoning and problem-solving skills of students. Results from this assessment will help
teachers better understand and adapt to their students’ needs and provide teachers with insights intothe way different students learn.
As teachers review your child’s results, they will keep in mind that this assessment is only one measure of a student’s performance, a snapshot in time. Equally important ways to measure student performance include teacher observation, progress reports, daily work, and classroom assessments. All of these factors need to be considered when evaluating a child’s academic progress.
