Meeting Procedures

Regular Meetings

All regular meetings of the Board of Education shall be open to the public. The Rockwood Board of Education regularly meets on the first and third Thursday evenings of most months.  All meeting dates are on the Rockwood website and calendar.

Minutes and Agendas

Agendas are posted at all district buildings and on the website the week prior to the meeting. Approved Board minutes are also posted on BoardDocs, our online governance system.  In addition, citizens can hear audio recordings of the open Board meetings on this system.

Addressing the Board 

The School Board has established a period for statements from patrons ("Patron Comments") during Board meetings. During Patron Comments, any citizen of the Rockwood School District may make a statement or address the Board concerning issues pertaining to the Rockwood School District at both monthly Board meetings. Each speaker will be limited to three (3) minutes.

The Board or the Superintendent may seek additional information or clarification from the citizen addressing the Board. At the Board's discretion, the Board, the Superintendent or the administrative staff will either respond immediately to an issue raised in a statement or provide a written response within a reasonable time period. The general practice, however, should be to respond to the concern at a later time. If a written response is provided, it will be made available to the public in either full text or summarized form upon request.

In order to provide an opportunity for all citizens to make statements to the Board, citizens shall sign in on cards provided by the Board prior to the time they intend to speak. On these cards, citizens shall identify the subject matter that they will address. Citizens are also encouraged to provide the Board either with a copy of their statement or a short written description of the topic they will address. Sign-in will be open at least thirty (30) minutes prior to each regular Board meeting. Cards must be completed and submitted prior to the start of the patron comment agenda item. Closed Meetings

The Board of Education may meet in closed session to discuss those items as designated by law.
