rockwood text message banner.pngDo you want to receive text messages from your school principal and the district during the upcoming school year?

Rockwood has an automatic notification system, and parents and staff will need to opt-in to continue to receive texts.

NOTE: If you've already opted-in to receive text messages in previous years, you will not need to opt-in again for the 2017-2018 school year.

There are two things you need to do to opt-in to this service:
  1. Text the word “YES” to 67587 from each cell phone/wireless device you wish to receive texts on.  (67587 is Rockwood's new short code for text messaging.  Please add this number to your phone contact list.) Find out more about the opt-in to the service.
  2. Make sure this phone number is included in your contact information on Infinite Campus. Texts will only be sent to cell phones associated with your students’ information on Infinite Campus.
Rockwood informs parents of school news and district emergencies through an automatic notification system called Rockwood Connect. Parents will receive two types of information:
  1. Emergency Messages: The safety of our students is our priority.  If there is a crisis situation in a school or in the district, we will keep parents informed through regular updates via phone, email and text using Rockwood Connect. Rockwood Communications will contact parents using voice, email and text alerts. These alerts will be sent to all contact numbers available for the family as listed on Infinite Campus.
  2. School Outreach Messages: Schools keep parents connected to news and information through school eNewsletters, email messages, phone updates and text messaging.  Parents receive school outreach communication on their cell phones and email addresses.  These messages will be sent to the primary and secondary contact information listed for their child on Infinite Campus.
The successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information.
  • Check your family's phone numbers and email addresses on the Infinite Campus Portal. If you do not have an Infinite Campus account, find out how you can get one.
  • If your contact information changes, please notify the school registrar immediately. Rockwood's automatic notification system receives an upload of student contact information each evening to ensure we have the most up-to-date contact information for our students.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to speak before the voice recording will play?

No, the message into will start playing automatically.  You’ll hear a recording stating that you have a message and giving instructions on how to proceed to retrieve the message.

  • I didn't hear the first part of the message. How can I get it to play again?
Messages in progress may be restarted from the beginning by pressing the star (*) key.
  • What if the line is busy or there is no answer?

Rockwood Connect will make four attempts to reach each phone number at 15 minute intervals. If the message is not delivered by the final attempt, the school is notified of such in the delivery report.

  • My caller ID showed that the school had called, but there was no voicemail. Why?
The system is will ring a line up to six times. If your answering machine is set to pick up on seven or more rings, the message may not be delivered to your machine. Therefore, we encourage you to set your machine to six rings or fewer. Another possibility is that there is a break or a substantial silence in your machine’s outgoing message, causing the phone message to play prior to the machine actually recording. Please make sure that the greeting is seamless to facilitate successful message delivery.
  • Why didn’t the school’s or district’s phone number appear on the caller ID?
Each Rockwood school and the district has its name and main contact number listed as the caller ID for each outgoing message.  It is up to your phone carrier to pass it along to you, their customer. Furthermore, different local telephone companies process caller ID information differently. Some provide the name associated with the number, while others do not. For example, a telephone company may require an individual to subscribe to “Advanced Caller ID” in order to receive the school name along with the phone number. Unfortunately, we have no control over this feature.

I've received an error message from my phone carrier when I tried to opt-in.
