Junior Students: Are you passionate about science?
If so, please consider applying to the Young Scientist Program’s Summer Focus at Washington University!
Summer Focus (SF) is an 8-week summer internship for rising seniors that places the students in a laboratory at Washington University. Summer Focus is a highly successful program that seeks students schools who yearn for hands-on research opportunities.
Keep in mind that only students in 11th grade are eligible to apply.
Applications for the Summer 2018 program are due February 12, 2017.
For more information visit WashU's website: http://ysp.wustl.edu/SummerFocus.php. In addition, WashU has started creating profiles for several of their previous Summer Focus Scholars from Summer 2013: http://ysp.wustl.edu/SFProfiles.php. The profiles contain detailed information about projects, scholars experiences and our scholars accomplishments since their time in the program.
It is that time of the year when we all come together and do our best to collect 30,000 cans for 'Circle of Concern'. We make a big difference in the life of every family that is supported by our collection. As we begin our Canned Food drive we need help from all of you!
Please consider volunteering at one of our local grocery stores to help collect canned goods. The link below lists locations and times open for help. The more help we have, the more food we can donate. Thanks for your consideration!
Please join Junior Principal, Dr. Timothy Jones, for coffee Monday, November 13th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Use this opportunity to ask Dr. Jones any question you have pretaining to your junior student or LHS.
Parent Teacher Conferences for first semester will be held Wednesday, October 11th and Thursday, October 19th from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Please take this opportunity to meet one on one with your student's teachers. Conferences at LHS are on a first-come, first serve basis and we ask that parents limit their conference time to 10 minutes so lines do not become too long. Please remember to bring a copy of your student's class schedule with you. Stop by the information table in the Commons if you additional information.

South Tech Information Session: Thursday, September 28th during 6th hour in Room 137.
Did you know that Junior and Senior students can take Career & Technical Education courses through South Tech High School while still being a student at LHS? These students spend half the day at South Tech and the other half at LHS. Any Sophomore or Junior interested in learning more about South Tech and the programs they offer should sign up to attend the information session taking place on Thursday, September 28th during 6th hour in room 137. Students need to sign up in advance in room 123 where they will be given a pass to show their 6th hour teacher on the day of the presentation. Our admissions representative, Katie Miller, will be leading the presentation and will leave time at the end of the presentation for questions. If you would like to learn more about South Tech, please visit our webpage or the South Tech website. You may also contact our South Tech Liaison, Mrs. Sarah Hicks (firstname.lastname@example.org), in the Counseling Office (123) for more information.
