Rockwood has received the highest-level audit opinion, an unmodified opinion, during its recent independent audit conducted by the certified public accounting firm Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP.
Lead Engagement Partner Brian Wuertz, CPA, explained that it is the auditors’ responsibility to review the district’s finances and express their independent opinion on the fair representation of the school district’s financial statements.
“This is a clean opinion and notes that all financial statements are in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards or GAAP,” noted Wuertz. The audit commends the district for having accurate financial reports, appropriate management procedures and internal controls, as well as compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, contracts and grants.
Chief Financial Officer Paul Northington was pleased the district once again received the highest-level audit opinion. “We are committed to professional, prudent and conservative financial management in the Rockwood School District,” he shared.
Rockwood's conservative financial management has been recognized with a Standard & Poor's rating of AAA, making Rockwood one of only four school districts in the state to hold such a high, outstanding rating. Rockwood’s Finance Department also earned the Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International.
