Rockwood is pleased to announce that the Rockwood Board of Education has earned the 2018 Outstanding Board of Education Award in Physical and Environmental Resources from the Missouri School Boards' Association (MSBA).
"We take our responsibility for the safety of our students very seriously," noted Board President Loralee Mondl. "We will continue to honor our community's investment in high-quality schools to ensure our students have great places to learn and grow."
The MSBA will recognize school boards across the state during their annual Leadership Summit to be held on June 1. For consideration of the Physical and Environmental Resources Award, Rockwood's board was required to meet six criteria: quality learning environment, safety and security, technology, environmental practices, community use of facilities, and long-range facilities planning.
The Rockwood School Board earned a 96.88 overall percent. MSBA noted in their feedback that the Board demonstrates strong stewardship, in addition to excellent long-range facility and maintenance programs that are continually monitored for effectiveness.
According to Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost, the School Board plays an active role in the Rockwood school community. "We take pride in the seven individuals who volunteer countless hours to serve on the Rockwood Board of Education," said Dr. Knost. "They fully support our vision for the district and focus on what's best for all students."
The Missouri School Boards' Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards succeed.
