Fifth-grade students at Blevins Elementary have been learning about colonial times.
"They're using their research to show me that they understand what life was like," said teacher Karen Huber.
Recently, the students sewed and stuffed their own dolls.
"It's a lot of fun," said Huber. "We've been doing it for more than 20 years."
Student Caleb Boyce described the hands-on experience.
"It turned out pretty good," said Boyce. "But it was hard to get the stuffing inside my doll. I used fabric for the overalls and shirt. We used thread for mouth, buttons for eyes and yarn for hair."
"He is supposed to look like me in colonial times," added student Jaxson Joggerst.
The dolls will be on display in the school library until the end of the school year.
