We are starting the 2017-18 season after one of our most successful seasons yet!  In the 2016-17 season the club earned a #11 national ranking by US Club Rankings and was ranked #1 in Missouri and #1 in the Gateway Region! A total of 15 GIRLS teams earned qualifying bids for the USAV Nationals this season. Rockwood Thunder qualified FIVE of those teams in the OPEN Division. ELEVEN of the 15 teams qualified outside of the Gateway Region at National Qualifiers. THREE teams earned medals at the Girls Junior National Championships and FOUR Athletes were named to the All-Tournament Team!

Rockwood Thunder VBC strives to be organized and educate both the players and the parents on what is expected to be successful in both playing the game and being a member of the Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club. This section is primarily directed to the parents to provide an overview of what you need to understand to participate fully in the club experience. Click on the various links below for more detail on each topic.

2) Tryout Details & Forms:  Boys/Girls U10-14, Girls U15-18

Tryouts are a mandatory part of the process. We are holding 3 different sessions this year. Different sessions are held for the different age groups of Boys, Girls U10-U14, and Girls U15-U18. Even within a given age group, times are set up for each age bracket (10, 11, 12...). It is critical that your child participate in the age-specific session and location in order to be evaluated by the appropriate coaches. If you are unable to attend that specific session, contact the Club Director or the appropriate age group Coaches for that age to determine if another time will be acceptable.

3) Registration Night

Typically, the Monday following Tryouts is our first Parent Meeting. You are required to register your player with our Club, pay club fees, pay for club uniforms, sign Parent Code of Conduct and handle any additional team specific items. Bring the player's Birth Certificate and your Drivers License, as you will be presenting them to a Public Registrar as part of the validation process. Do NOT just drop off your player, A Parent or Legal Guardian must be present! Siblings or neighbors do not qualify. You must call the coach or club director if you are not able to attend to make alternative arrangements. Bring at least 2 checks to pay for the club fees, and clothing, separately.

Be aware that some teams will be selling other clothing or volleyball items as fund raisers, so you may want to bring additional checks for this, as well.

New this year: Club payment can be made online with a credit card or ACH withdrawal:

4) Practices

Each team will try to schedule practice times for at least 2 times per week at selected Rockwood School District locations. As schools have other events, schedules may need to be adjusted from week-to-week. Your coach or team Admin will inform your team of the schedule and changes.

5) Positional Training & Physical Conditioning

We have scheduled skill specific training sessions (middles, outsides/right sides, defensive specialist, setters, etc.), so players will be taught consistently across the club and as age appropriate. This also provides additional consistency for our coaches in the various drills and skills.

6) Referee / Score Keep Clinic- REQUIRED!!

We have scheduled training sessions for all players (boys and girls) to attend one session in December. This is required for all club players. We have training videos available to provide foundational information that can be viewed ahead of time to make understanding easier for new players.

7) Tournaments

Each team will schedule 2-3 tournaments per month. Coaches will work with the teams to determine if additional out-of-town tournaments are needed to prepare for Qualifiers and the Regional tournaments. It is our hope that all teams will qualify for the National tournament, but that is subject to the success of each team.

8) College Preparation

Many of our players achieve great skills and success playing for our club. We facilitate publishing player's VB profiles/resumes for prospecting colleges. We have resources available to aid the players in tracking their progress to achieving their goals.
