The RSHS Class of 2018 is conducting its first annual Pink Flamingo Fundraiser and we hope you will join in on the fun!  We have several flocks of pink flamingos, one of which could end up on the front lawn of one of your friends!  Here's how it works…

1.     Choose an unsuspecting 'victim' – maybe someone with a birthday, anniversary, a 'payback' or someone that just needs to be cheered up!

2.     Complete the attached 'Flocking a Friend' order form.  This will let us know who to flock, when to do it, how many flamingos you want in their yard and any other special instructions you may have.  (Please note that flamingo flocking is limited to homes in the Fenton quadrant and we can't place them on public property or apartment complexes.)

3.     Submit your Flock a Friend form and your check (made payable to PEAKS with Class of 2018 in the memo field) to the front office at RSHS.

4.     On the date you requested, the flock of flamingos will land on that special person's lawn before sunrise so they will wake up to a surprise!  They will graze on their lawn all day and will be picked up after sunset to fly overnight to their next destination.

5.     A flock of 12 flamingos is $10; 24 flamingos for $15 and 36 flamingos for $20.  The more you choose, the bigger the impact!  All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Senior Slam for the Class of 2018.

6.      If you REALLY don't want to get flocked, or if you are looking for a way to make an easy contribution to this fundraiser, you can buy Anti-Flocking Insurance.  For a $15 premium, we will guarantee that no flamingos will show up on your lawn!  The Anti-Flocking Insurance Form is also attached.

7.     The flamingos will be migrating from home to home between September 1 and October 28.  If you have a special request for flocking outside of this time frame, we will do our best to honor the request.

8.       THANK YOU in advance for supporting the Class of 2018.  If you have any questions, please contact Angie Stimson or Shelly McGuirk via email at

Freshmen Update 8/14/14

To All:

I hope your son/daughter has had a great start to their high school career.  I have had the privilege of visiting classrooms where the Class of 2018 students are really challenging themselves, to present to a Freshmen Seminar Class on what it takes to be successful and to meet with individual students to:

  • Help them:
    • Find their locker,
    • Find their classroom,
    • Figure out their lunch shift,
    • Figure out their bus number and location,
    • Simply have a great 1st week…
  • Hear from them about their experiences the first week,
  • Visit their practices in after school activities,
  • Celebrate their birthdays this week,
  • Simply to share with them a smile or a fist pump…

I am sure this is not a surprise to you as parents, but the outstanding character and accomplishments of these young students continues to be made evident everyday…

A couple of immediate reminders:

  • This Friday, August 15th is the "Dollar Dance" at Summit…a few notes:
    • Time is 7 – 9 pm (not 10 pm as previously posted on calendar)
      • Parents please be here at 9pm to pick up your students should they need a ride
    • ONLY currently enrolled RSHS students may attend – no middle school, other public/private school students or alumni can attend
  • This Monday, August 18th we will hold grade level class meetings during a portion of the school day…
    • Students will receive their Student Handbooks on this date and the handbook will also be posted online as a PDF.
    • Please review the handbook with your student
    • Later next week, all students will be provided a form to sign that they have reviewed building and district handbooks and understand their responsibilities as an RSHS and Rockwood student.
  • This Wednesday, August 20th is Parent Night at Rockwood Summit beginning at 6:30pm…
    • 9th grade parents will meet with me in the main gym
    • Following a short presentation, parents then will follow their student's schedule to meet the classroom teachers for each course their student is enrolled in
  • On the Radar:
    • Homecoming the week of Sunday, September 14th to Saturday, September 20th
      • 5k Fun Run 9/14
      • Powder puff Football 9/17
      • Parade 5pm 9/19
      • Football Game 7pm 9/19
      • Homecoming Dance 7pm 9/20

What a great first week…please tell you son/daughter how honored we are to have them as a part of the Falcon Family at RSHS.
