GUIDANCE ANNOUNCEMENTS

​​PRIVATE SCHOOL VISIT

8th grade students (and their parents) who do not attend Rockwo​od South Middle School are invited to attend a Private School Day on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 8:30-11am, ​at Rockwood Summit.​  This event will introduce students to our school, offer them a walking tour of our buildings, help them learn about classes and activities and have any questions they may have answered.  Interested families should RSVP by calling Liz Tucci at 636-891-6825.​


​​GENERAL GUIDANCE INFORMATION

Our guidance and counseling program includes:

  1. CURRICULUM consists of classroom lessons and large group presentations

  2. INDIVIDUAL PLANNING consists of activities that help all students plan, monitor, and manage their own learning as well as their personal and career development.                   

  3. RESPONSIVE SERVICES consists of activities to meet immediate needs and concerns of students.

  4. SYSTEM SUPPORT consists of management activities that establish, maintain, and enhance the total guidance program.

The Guidance Department at Rockwood Summit is here to assist students to make good choices concerning their High School career.

The following is a list of Graduation Requirements for students'

Eight semesters of attendance plus the following course work:

Mathematics    3 credits
Social Studies   3 credits
Science 3 credits
CTE (Career and Technical Ed) ​   1 credit
Personal Finance Proficiency met through personal finanace or economics courses​
Fine Arts   1 credit
Physical Education   1 credit
Health Education 1/2 credit
Electives   7 1/2 credits
TOTAL    24
Speech Proficiency Completed through language arts coursework
Missouri and Federal Constitution Exams taken during United States government course
Credits needed to advance in grade level:

6 Credits - 10th Grade
12 Credits - 11th Grade
17​​ Credits - 12th Grade

Students may be reclassified at the end of each semester and summer academy.  If you have questions regarding your grade level contact your counselor.

Guidance Office Hours:

The Guidance Office is open daily Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. Counselors are available, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  To schedule an appointment with your counselor contact Mrs. Liz Tucci.  Mrs. Tucci will help you find a time that is best for you and your counselor.
