It’s hard to believe there is only one remaining week with the Class of 2023! Mrs. Allison and I will certainly miss this class and know they will do great things! We are proud of your accomplishments. Have a great last week at LHS and we look forward to seeing you at Graduation on Saturday, June 3 at 11 am at Chaifetz Arena.
Last Week of school for Seniors:
May 22-26 - B, C, B, C, A – LAST DAY!
There will be a MANDATORY graduation practice on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 9-11 am in the LHS back gym. At that time, students will receive their cap and gown, any honor cords, etc. If you can not attend this practice, please contact the Senior Office for an alternate practice date. Seniors are dismissed directly after graduation practice.
GRADUATION INFORMATION - We are excited for Graduation on June 3, 2023 at 11 am. Please make sure to read this information about the ceremony and practice.
ALL Seniors need to complete the Class of 2023 Senior Checkout next week. Please print or pick up a copy in the Senior Office. Make sure to get all signatures and turn in your completed form to the Senior Office (Room 215). ALL books, chromebooks, chargers, etc. must be turned in and fees/fines paid before graduation practice next Friday.

Here is the Schedule and more information for when students are allowed in the schools for the “parade”. ** Seniors are released after the Mandatory Graduation Practice @11 am. The middle/grade school walk is voluntary and on your own, transportation is not provided. Seniors will receive their cap and gown at the graduation practice that morning, they may wear them for the walk, but it is not mandatory.

Relay for Life - Friday, June 2: For over 20 years, the Rockwood School District has been hosting a district-wide event called “Relay for Life,” which benefits the American Cancer Society. This year, the Rockwood event will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Uthoff Valley Elementary School from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Please visit the Relay For Life of Rockwood Website to join an existing team or create a team of your own! If you are not looking to join a team or attend the event, you can still donate to this wonderful cause! All donations go to the American Cancer Society. Reach out to relayforlifersdmo@gmail.com with any questions about the event or how to get involved! More details to come!

Visiting Lafayette and Other Rockwood Schools: Rockwood has moved to a new visitor sign in/sign out system called School Pass. While additional information will come out soon, we wanted you to be aware , but I wanted you to be aware of the new process that is in place for when you visit Lafayette. To help with the process, please make sure you bring your driver's license the first time you visit Lafayette. Once you establish your PIN, you will not need your driver's license.
Lunch and Outside Food Delivery Lafayette does NOT allow food delivery by outside vendors (ex.: Uber Eats, DoorDash, restaurants, etc.). If a student has forgotten lunch, the student should see the grade-level administrator.

LHS JR/SR PROM: Saturday, May 6 at the Ritz Carlton, Clayton, and tickets are now on sale!
If the link does not work your child has a FINE that will need to be paid before a ticket may be purchased. After you pay the fine, email Mrs. Mehegan (mehegan.kelly@rsdmo.org) that your fine is paid. She will then add your name to the list so you can purchase your ticket.
You may use this link to purchase tickets through HomeTown Ticketing. Tickets cost $75.00 each and will be on sale through April 30. For more details regarding Prom, please click on LHS 2023 PROM.

After that date, there is no guarantee any yearbooks will be available for purchase when they are distributed Aug. 7, 2023.Yearbooks are $70 and nameplates are available for $8. You may also add Home Shipping to have your yearbook mailed home for $15. It will be mailed to the address that was listed in Infinite Campus at the start of the school year unless you change it in the Yearbook Order Center.

EOC Exams Start on April 17, 2023: Students enrolled in the following classes will be taking the end of course exam in these classes (Algebra 1 and 2, Biology, English 2, Personal Finance and Government). Students need to bring their RSD issued Chromebook to class for EOC testing. Students will not be able to test on any other device. Please bring your device fully charged.

Senior Newspaper Ads due April 26th: The 2023 Senior Magazine produced by the Image Newsmagazine is offering ad space for you to congratulate your graduate! The special edition will be distributed to seniors only at graduation practice on May 26, 2023. It contains memories, parting quotes and favorites submitted by the Senior Class. Ads will appear in full color and include one photo of your choice and a short message.
Senior Video for Graduation - Do you want to be included in the video that plays at graduation? Seniors submit your videos and photos from the past 4 years of high school. You can submit videos from dances, sports, after-school activities, etc. by clicking on the link or scanning the QR Code.
Graduation Honor Cord Request Form
Your Senior must be signed into their Rockwood Google Account to complete. They may only fill this form out one time, so please make sure that you have included all of the Cords you are requesting.Once completed, the Department Chair for each department will review and make the decision if the requirements have been met. GPA honor cords will be automatically given out based on the past 7 semesters of cumulative GPA. You will receive your honor cords with your Cap and Gown at the mandatory Graduation Practice on Friday, May 26 at 9 am. The Honor Cord Request Form MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2023.

Only 36 school days remain for the Class of 2023 - it’s hard to believe that in a couple short months the Class of 2023 will be graduating! There’s a lot going on between now and then. PLEASE make sure you are reading all of the Parent Square communication coming out. I know . . . it’s A LOT! Here is an updated list of all the upcoming Senior Events and Deadlines until graduation! Included are PTO sponsored events during Senior Spirit Week. Make sure to look at the deadlines!

Senior Cardinals Field Trip- Buy your tickets now for the Senior Cardinal Field Trip on May 4, 2023. Click HERE for more information, permission slip and link to the Parent Pay On-Line Portal. Tickets are $43 and include lower-level outfield box seat, motor coach bus transportation, and a voucher for a hotdog and soda. Please note -- ALL students must turn in a signed permission slip to the Senior Office by April 18, 2023.
Graduation Speaker Tryouts - Seniors, if you are interested in trying out for one of the two student speeches to be given at graduation, please come by the Senior Office (room 215) to sign up for a time slot. Tryouts will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 during AcLabs. You will deliver your speech before a panel of student and staff judges. You will need to provide a copy of your speech in writing no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023. If you do not submit your speech in writing by this time, you will forfeit your tryout spot. For additional information, please click on the link.
Grade/Middle School Throwback Walks - This is an opportunity for Seniors to go back to their Elementary/Middle Schools on Friday, May 26, 2023. Here is the Schedule and more information for when students are allowed in the schools for the “parade”. ** Seniors are released after the Mandatory Graduation Practice @11 am. The middle/grade school walk is voluntary and on your own, transportation is not provided. Seniors will receive their cap and gown at the graduation practice that morning, they may wear them for the walk, but it is not mandatory.
Senior Newspaper Ads due April 26th: The 2023 Senior Magazine produced by the Image Newsmagazine is offering ad space for you to congratulate your graduate! The special edition will be distributed to Seniors only at graduation practice on May 26, 2023. It contains memories, parting quotes and favorites submitted by the Senior Class. Ads will appear in full color and include one photo of your choice and a short message.
Graduation Honor Cord Request Form
Your Senior must be signed into their Rockwood Google Account to complete. They may only fill this form out one time, so please make sure that you have included all of the Cords you are requesting.Once completed, the Department Chair for each department will review and make the decision if the requirements have been met. GPA honor cords will be automatically given out based on the past 7 semesters of cumulative GPA. You will receive your honor cords with your Cap and Gown at the mandatory Graduation Practice on Friday, May 26 at 9 am. The Honor Cord Request Form MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2023.
Special Olympics Buddy Sign-UPs Are Now Open - Students can sign-up to be a buddy to a Special Olympics athlete for the track and field events being hosted at LHS on Friday, May, 12. Students can scan the QR Code to sign-up.
Fun Run - Sunday, April 30 - Please join us for the Shine Together 5k on Sunday, April 30th @ 8:30am to benefit the Class of 2025. Class of 2023 Yard Sign Sales - PTO is currently selling Class of 2023 Yard Signs and Banners. Either Click on the link or scan the barcode to order. Deadline to order is Friday, April 21, 2023. Signs and banners may be customized - for any school, mascot, student name, photo. Note: Orders will be distributed on Tuesday May 2, 2023 in the Lafayette Parking Lot from 4pm to 6pm.
