Meningitis A Vaccine (This vaccine is also known as MCV4, Meningococcal, Meningococcal A Conjugate, Menactra, or Menveo):  Meningitis A is a terrible disease that can cause loss of limb, blindness, or death, and it is preventable by vaccination.  Your child had his/her first dose before starting 8th grade.  The state of Missouri and Rockwood School District requires all seniors in high school, both virtual and in-person, to have their second shot after they turn 16 and before they start their senior year.

If your child has had this second dose already, please forward the paperwork to the nurses’ office.  The information can be received a few ways:

    • Scan or take a picture of the documentation and email it to the LHS nurses (Kristen Emms (emmskristen@rsdmo.org) or Kaylin Zimmer (zimmerkaylin@rsdmo.org)
    • Download the documentation from your student’s online health record and email it to the LHS nurses
    • Have your student’s doctor’s office fax the documentation to the nurses’ office at 636-733-8832
    • Have your student drop off the documentation at the nurses’ office

If your child has not had this vaccine, please plan on making an appointment for the vaccine before the end of this school year.  Clinics and doctor’s offices get very busy in the summer, so it will be easier to get appointments during the spring.  If your student has insurance, this vaccination is covered.  If they get it during their physical over the summer, please email it to us then.  Most colleges and universities require this vaccine as well, so your child will already be compliant by getting it now.
