Posted by KELLY MEHEGAN on 5/19/2023Class of 2024 Students and Families:
It is time to say thank you and good bye Class of 2024 students and parents. As I retire from LHS and RSD after 25 years, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible journey we have shared. The support, dedication, and enthusiasm you have showed me throughout the years have been invaluable. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and for making my time here truly unforgetable.
This week our athletic teams played many district matches, I hope many of you were there cheering them on. Best of luck to all our teams playing district and state championship matches next week.
Next week is our last full week of school, so that means it is time to get focused on preparing for final assessments. Please review the second semester final assessment schedule to be sure you are planning your study sessions and are prepared to do well.

We cannot believe we are already thinking about next school year and it's only February, but it will be here before we know it! The state of Missouri and Rockwood School District requires that every incoming senior receive their Meningococcal A booster vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. If your student has already received it, please email one of the nurses below a copy of their updated immunization record. If your student will be getting it this summer (we realize this is the case for many), please let us know and send a copy of their updated record as soon as they get it.
You can get your student vaccinated at several locations: Pediatrician’s office, Local pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens, Urgent Care Centers, and South County Health Center for low/no cost. AP REGISTRATION RESOURCES:
LHS Champion and Involvement Survey and District SEL Survey - October 24, 2022: On October 24, our students will be completing the LHS Champion and Involvement Survey and district SEL Survey during the 1st module of Academic Lab. These two surveys provide information which allow our school community to plan and care for our students. Please read the description of each survey below.
-
LHS Champion and Involvement Survey - Each year, we ask our students to fill out the LHS Champion and Involvement Survey as an additional layer of support. This survey asks each student to identify one adult at Lafayette for whom the student would be comfortable requesting support or assistance. As school teams, we work together with parents and staff in the best interest of our students. The name of your student’s LHS Champion will be included at the bottom of the student’s schedule. Please click HERE to see the full survey.
-
District SEL Survey - Social and emotional learning is an important part of the educational experience.
-
Students will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that encourages them to reflect on their own mindsets, experiences and approaches with learning. These questions help us to check in with our students to ensure they feel connected to our school and we are meeting their social and emotional needs.
-
The information that is collected in the questionnaire will be shared with your child’s school and teachers to guide the work that we do as a school and district (will not be used as part of their grade or academic record). For a complete list of questions, please visit our website, https://www.rsdmo.org/Page/5488.
-
The survey is voluntary and students can feel free to skip any question within the survey. If you do not want your child to complete the survey, please notify Dr. Mandy Lewis at your child's school or use the Social Emotional Learning Opt-Out Form in Clevr to indicate you would not like your child to participate by Friday, October 21.

Thank you to all who donated candy for the homecoming parade. It was a wonderful week with the Homecoming school events, freshman football victory over Parkway West, parade, game and dance!
What’s the Next Big Thing?
LHS Winter Carnival, of course! Please be on the look out for a communication from Lisa Schnettler, who is our Carnival Chairperson. We will be looking for volunteers to help run this event. There’s no pressure, but we do need support as this is our first and BIGGEST fundraiser. It sets the tone for the Class of 2026’s graduation night celebration. It will be here before we know it!
