Please note: Many scholarships require an official transcript, a counselor's signature, letters of recommendation, etc.  All of this information requires the assistance of the College Counselor.  In these cases, we will, more often than not, state an earlier deadline in order to process these by the official deadline.  We will always try to accommodate you if you are running late, as long as we can get these out in the mail on time.  However, there are some scholarships that require a building committee to make a decision.  This committee selects one nominee from Lafayette High School.  In these cases, we need time to meet as a committee and make a decision. With these scholarships, we WILL NOT extend a deadline. You will recognize these scholarships because in the deadline information we will include not only a date but a time as well.  Any questions, please contact the College Counselor.

You do need to be aware of scholarship scams. Generally speaking, if a scholarship requires a fee to apply, you should be very leery of that scholarship. Also, be leery of "guaranteed results" for paid services. Watch out for financial aid seminars put on by private companies.  All financial aid information and scholarship information is available for free. You do not need to pay anyone to help you find a scholarship or financial aid resources.  If you are suspicious or uncertain about a scholarship or service, you can check here for more information.
