    Class of 2026 Students and Families:  

    Homecoming Week has been amazing!  We’ve enjoyed dress up days, lunchtime games and musical and vocal performances, the PowderPuff Game, the Male Escadrille performance, and wrapping up with a pep assembly.  Tonight, we invite you to join us for the parade and football game.  The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and departs from Green Pines Elementary.  Game time is at 7:15 p.m. versus the Parkway West Longhorns.  Saturday wraps up the Homecoming Week celebrations with our 7:30 p.m. dance.  If your student needs to be picked up from the dance, please arrive at Lafayette by 9:45 p.m., as the dance ends at 10:00 p.m.  Remember to stay safe and make good choices!

    • Proposition 3:  Proposition 3 is a zero-tax-rate-increase levy transfer on the November 7 ballot to address annual safety, technology and facility needs across the district.  The priority projects for our school have been posted to the district website.  For more information about Prop 3, visit rsdmo.org/prop3.

    • Proposition 3:  Proposition 3 is on the November 7, 2023 ballot for a zero-tax-increase levy transfer to establish a dedicated annual funding source for safety, technology and facility needs across the district. 

    This funding source would eliminate the need to borrow funds and pay interest on safety items, scheduled technology upgrades and facility upkeep, ultimately saving taxpayer dollars. Proposition 3 would essentially result in a transfer of funds by increasing the operating tax levy by $0.54 over two years and concurrently reducing the debt service levy by the same amount, resulting in a zero-tax-rate increase.     Class of 2026 Students and Families:

    It’s going to be a beautiful night for football, so we hope you will join us at LHS tonight as the Lancers take on Riverview Gardens.  Be sure to wear green in support of mental health!  On Monday at 7:50 a.m., we will begin our week by honoring our First Responders and the memory of those lost during 9/11 at our Patriot Day Ceremony.  Homecoming Week is coming up soon, so check out details below.  We are also excited to reopen our pool doors on Monday!  Continue working hard in your classes and have a great week!

    • UMSL Advanced Credit Program (ACP) Registration Deadline - Wednesday, September 13:  Fall and full-year course ACP registration closes after Wednesday, September 13.  Do you think you are eligible?  Please read through the following information.

      • Courses eligible for college credit through the University of Missouri-St. Louis: Introduction to College Writing, Introduction to College Literature, Algebra 3, French 3-AP, Spanish 3-AP, AP Art and Design 1 & 2. 

      • Eligibility Requirements:  Juniors and Seniors - Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Sophomores - Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

      • Registration is available online:  www.umsl.edu/acp  (Click "Register" to begin). Parents must give approval by September 15 via the link sent to their email.

      • The cost per credit hour is $70 and no payments are due at the time of registration (bills will be mailed at a later time).  Scholarships are available!

    Class of 2026 Students and Families:

    Are you ready, Lancers?  Monday begins the 2023-2024 school year, and we are so excited to have you all back in the building.  We had a great week welcoming our newest Lancers to LHS, and today, the building was busy with students getting their parking passes, practicing their schedules, and prepping their lockers.  We are looking forward to a great sophomore year!

    • Construction Information - UPDATE:  Please review the updated “Morning Drop-Off” map for traffic pattern changes.  We will have staff in the parking lot to help guide you as well.  Buses will continue to drop-off/pick-up students in the lower east lot.  Students who ride the bus will enter and exit the building through the Welcome Center doors.

     

    (Parents and students accessing the west parking lot/drop off zones should enter at the stop light.  Parents and students accessing the east parking lot/drop off zones should enter at Stadium Drive.  Bus riders will be dropped off and picked up in the lower parking lot on the east side of the building. Yellow areas indicate student drop-off/pick-up zones.  Areas in red are closed to traffic.) )

    • First Day of School - Monday, August 21:  The school building opens at 8:00 a.m.  Students will not be allowed in the building until that time.  The school day begins at 8:28 a.m. and ends at 3:17 p.m.

    • Parking Selection - Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22:  Any students still needing to pick up a parking pass can do so during lunch on Monday and Tuesday.  On Monday, students will be able to pick up their passes on the stage in the commons.  On Tuesday, students will be able to pick up their passes in the junior office (room 161) during lunch.  Students need to complete the online Parking Permit Application via Parent Pay Online prior to picking up their passes.  Students MUST possess a valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance when picking up their parking passes.  Sales will continue throughout the new school year until the lot is full.  All Fines and Fees have to be paid before a parking pass will be issued.  If you have any questions, please contact the Junior Office at 636-733-4110.

    • Schedule for First Week of School - AAABC:  On our first B day, Thursday, August 24, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will have their yearbook pictures taken during AcLab.  We will have a modified schedule to accommodate pictures being taken in the morning.

    • 4th hour plus lunch - 10:06 a.m.-12:02 p.m.

    • Construction Information:  The east-side entrance of Lafayette (the pool doors) is currently under construction.  This will impact our morning and afternoon traffic patterns and drop-off/pick-up locations.  We are including a map of the parking lot to help you familiarize yourself with these changes.  Buses will continue to drop-off/pick-up students in the lower east lot.  Students who ride the bus will enter and exit the building through the Welcome Center doors.

    • Schedule for First Week of School - AAABC:  On our first B day, Thursday, August 24, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will have their yearbook pictures taken during AcLab.  We will have a modified schedule to accommodate pictures being taken in the morning.

      • Reminders!!  Students should not wear shirts with writing. In addition, no sunglasses, headphones, or earbuds may be worn. Only religious head coverings are permitted in yearbook photos.

    • Schedule Corrections Deadline - Thursday, August 24:  Any student needing a schedule correction should access the following link to request a correction.  Schedule corrections will not be allowed after August 24.

    • Student Exclusions From School - Deadline Monday, September 4:  New for the 23-24 School Year - If parents or guardians have been notified that their student is non-compliant for any required immunizations, those immunizations must be up to date by Monday, September 4, 2023.  Any student who is still non-compliant by that date will be excluded from school starting Tuesday, September 5.  Please send proof of vaccination or direct your questions to Lafayette’s school nurses:  Kristen Emms - emmskristen@rsdmo.org and Kaylin Zimmer - zimmerkaylin@rsdmo.org or call 636-733-4107 or 636-733-4108.

    • Student Publications Patrons for 2023-2024:  Help support Lafayette's Student Publications by becoming a patron. Patrons get a subscription to the Image newsmagazine and will have their name published in the four print issues, on the website at www.lancerfeed.press and once per quarter on the Lancer Feed’s social media account.  Use this 23-24 Patron Form or choose the SUPPORT US tab on the Lancer Feed website.

    • Yearbook Sales for 2023-2024:  The yearbook is on sale now for $70. The Early Bird price ends Aug. 31. After that date, the price goes to its regular price of $75.     • Stay Connected with ParentSquare:  Rockwood uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text, and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent using the email address and phone number listed in Infinite Campus. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.  To prevent you from becoming overwhelmed with messages, we encourage you to update your Notifications Settings to best suit your needs.  Check out the "Digest in 5" Flyer" for more information.

     

    • Chromebooks:  Please be sure to log into your Chromebook prior to the first day of school to check access to your Google account.  If you need assistance, please use this link for support.

    Class of 2026 Students and Families:

    Remember that every Friday during the school year, you will receive communication from me highlighting upcoming events and important school information.  The items included below reflect some general guidance regarding the starting days of school.  Enjoy these last few days of the summer!  

    Rockwood parents must have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to verify/update their child(ren)'s information for the 2023-2024 school year.  If you do not have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account, please send an email to portalhelp@rsdmo.org.  If you have forgotten your username and/or password, also email that address.  For detailed instructions, please read Rockwood School District’s Online Census Verification Instructions.

    Class of 2026 Students and Families:

    You did it!  Congratulations on an awesome freshman year!  You have learned and grown so much, and I am excited to see what you will do next year.  Thank you for being your best, for learning from your mistakes, and for being a great example of what it means to be a Lancer.  I hope you have an amazing summer!

    Two reminders:  be sure all your fees are paid if you want to purchase a parking pass for next year, and if you need to take make-up final assessments, those will be held June 5 and 6.

    Relay for Life - Friday, June 2:  For over 20 years, the Rockwood School District has been hosting a district-wide event called “Relay for Life,” which benefits the American Cancer Society. This year, the Rockwood event will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Uthoff Valley Elementary School from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.  Please visit the Relay For Life of Rockwood Website to join an existing team or create a team of your own!  If you are not looking to join a team or attend the event, you can still donate to this wonderful cause!  All donations go to the American Cancer Society.  Reach out to relayforlifersdmo@gmail.com with any questions about the event or how to get involved!  More details to come!

    Class of 2026 Students and Families:

    Congratulations!  You have made it to the final two and a half days of your freshman year!  Make sure to take some time to rejuvenate this weekend and be sure to get yourself prepared for your remaining final assessments.  I have included the second semester final assessment schedule for your convenience..

    Please turn in all class materials, library materials, and uniforms to avoid fines and fees (you cannot purchase a parking pass if you have outstanding fees).  As you are turning in these materials, I ask that you check your lockers and make sure they are cleaned out for the summer.
