Here you will find information on a variety of summer programs offered to students at all grade levels. Please note that we do not promote one program over another and strongly encourage students and families to research opportunities they may be interested in attending to learn more.

AgDiscovery
AgDiscovery is a free summer outreach program to help teenagers explore careers in agricultural sciences.
As an AgDiscovery student, you’ll live on a college campus for 2–4 weeks and learn from university professors and USDA experts—plant and animal scientists, biotechnologists, veterinarians, wildlife biologists, administrative professionals, and others. You’ll gain hands-on experience through labs, workshops, and field trips; participate in character- and team-building activities; and join in many other fun and educational events. It’s a unique chance to get a first-hand look at the many exciting career paths in agriculture.

BESt Healthcare Institute
This year’s program runs June 20 through July 14, 2023. Multi-cultural freshman, sophomore, or junior students are eligible to participate in the St. Louis region, St. Louis City/County St. Charles, County, and Madison, St. Claire, IL counties. The application is online at www.
bestHealthcareinstitute.org. The BESt program continues to successfully implement strategies to build a diverse pipeline of students who are committed to taking leadership roles in healthcare and giving back to their community. Program Highlights:
• 100% of BESt graduates attend 4-year universities, 87% choose a career in healthcare
• Student stipends (earned based on merit, behavior, attitude, and adherence to program rules)
• Up to 4 weeks of exposure to college life and healthcare providers

Drake University - BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare Summer Camp
Drake University's BullD.O.G.S. in Healthcare camp will introduce you to careers in the health professions. You will get to participate in hands-on laboratory experiences, educational sessions, and interactive discussions with students and faculty in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to understand how to best prepare for a career in healthcare. Plus, with both in-person and virtual options available, you can participate safely in our overnight on-campus event, or from the comfort of your own home!

Drake Opportunities for Gaining Skills in HealthcareIn-Person Camp
- When: Thursday-Saturday, July 27-29, 2023
- Where: Drake University
- Cost: $200, which includes overnight accommodations in a residence hall. Financial assistance may be available to students who qualify.
Who is Eligible:
- Students enrolled as a 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader during the 2023/2024 academic year
- Students who graduated from high school in 2022 or 2023

Excellence in Healthcare PAID Summer Internship
This St. Louis Children’s Hospital internship will provide an opportunity for a high school student to explore a career in healthcare:
- 4 weeks, 32 hours/week (approximately July 3, 2023 – July 28, 2023) – may be in-person, virtual, or combination of both
- Summer, after completion of junior year in high school
- Female, of color
- Paid employment

Free Football Clinic
Each summer, the Isaac Bruce Foundation hosts a free football clinic for St. Louis area kids. The free clinic provides youth the opportunity to work on their football skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork skills, while building self-esteem both on and off the field. Each participant receives a T-shirt and refreshments as well as has the opportunity to meet Isaac. The clinics are open to the public. Space is limited to the first 500 participants to register. Bruce started the clinics in 2007. Registration is available under the “Events” section in April of each year.

Illinois Tech Summer Programs:
Students broaden their knowledge and skills through an array of academic offerings, hands-on experiences, and mentorship. Opportunities include daytime, residential, and online programs, as well as courses offering college credit. Registration is now open for summer 2023 programs.

Missouri S&T Summer Camps
Summer camp registration is currently open with spaces filling quickly. This is an amazing experience for students in grades 4-12 to get excited about STEM careers.

MIZZOU Mini Med School
Mini-Med School at the University of Missouri Columbia is returning this June for two sessions. Session 1 runs from June 4-8, and Session 2 runs from June 11-15.
This overnight camp is for Missouri high school rising seniors who are interested in a career in medicine. Students will attend lectures and will participate in the same Patient Based Learning (PBL) curriculum that Mizzou medical students do. We will have lots of hands-on clinical experiences, time our simulation and anatomy centers and social events in the evenings. This is a great experience for anyone who is considering medical school after college.

MIZZOU: Trulaske Business Academy
The Trulaske Business Academy was established in 2008 to serve as a pre-college summer program for underrepresented minority students interested in business. The goal of this residential program is to introduce students to the various disciplines and career opportunities within the business world, while also experiencing life on a college campus.

Murray State University Commonwealth Honors Academy
Murray State is offering a 3-week academic enrichment program for rising high school seniors (current Juniors - class of '24) held at Murray State University in June. Recruitment PosterStudents come together with approximately 100 of their peers from Murray State's service region and the surrounding states, take classes from gifted university and high school faculty members, and make lifelong friends while learning what it's like to live on a college campus.Students who complete CHA- receive six hours of university credit
- receive an in-state full-tuition scholarship with a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA and a minimum 25 ACT composite score. Students who do not meet these criteria will receive the Academic Achievement scholarship for first-time freshman students.

Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Summer STEM Adventure
Make Summer 2023 the best ever by designing, building, problem-solving, experimenting, and having a blast at (or with) Rose-Hulman, one of the country's leading STEM institutions.
Rose Power (for girls currently in grade 9): Build your confidence and skills. You will spend six days on campus working in Rose-Hulman’s innovation centers under the guidance of our faculty and students. By the end of the week, there won’t be a tool or machine you haven’t conquered. This camp will empower you to build any widget or gadget you can imagine.
Project Select (for students currently in grades 9-10): A one-week immersive science and engineering camp for students who want to gain greater awareness of STEM fields through hands-on experience. And, you’ll meet plenty of like-minded friends who love STEM as much as you do.
Operation Catapult (for students currently in grades 10-11): A 12-day program that lets you experience college life, meet new friends, dive into STEM projects and basically have a blast using all the knowledge you’ve gained in school.
Creation Crates (for students currently in grades 10-11): This is a one-week experimental engineering design-at-home program, which was inspired by an actual mechanical engineering course.
Rose Accelerate (for grades 11-12 and eligible first-year college students): Expand your knowledge by taking core college coursework online this summer and earn credits toward your Rose-Hulman degree.

Scripps Howard Emerging Journalists Program and Immersion at Elon University
For students curious about what it means to be a journalist, reporting and producing news that informs communities, the Scripps Howard Emerging Journalists Program at Elon University provides the ideal platform to explore their media interests. Thanks to financial support from the Scripps Howard Fund, Elon’s School of Communications established a FREE, educational initiative to inspire high school students to embark on journalism careers.
Applications are now open, and the first of four monthly virtual interactive learning sessions is scheduled for January. Students may apply to attend the virtual sessions only or for both the virtual component and the on-campus summer experience, scheduled for June 19-30, 2023, at Elon. The Emerging Journalists Program pays for students’ travel, lodging, meals, and instructional materials.

University of Kansas Summer Venture in Business
This pre-college summer academy is designed for underrepresented ethnic minority students and/or potential first-generation college students in high school who are interested in business.
From Sunday, June 11 until Friday, June 16, 2023, students will stay on KU’s Lawrence campus and learn about various aspects of business while immersing themselves in the college experience both in and out of the classroom. They’ll gain connections to academic resources and opportunities at KU and attend workshops focused on college and career readiness.This program is FREE for all eligible participants; all participants receive a scholarship that covers the general cost of the program. University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) Bridge Summer Program Opportunities
The University of Missouri St. Louis Bridge Program has begun its recruitment of area high school students for participation in the 2023 Summer Academy, Bridge to the ACT Summer Intensive, and Spend the Summer Write Workshop Series!
The Summer Academy will be offered Monday through Friday, June 20 – July 14 (7:45 am - 12:00 pm) on the University of Missouri- St. Louis north campus. Students who possess the following criteria are eligible to apply:
-Currently enrolled in grades 9th – 10th, in a St. Louis metropolitan area high school
-Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
-Enrolled in or have completed Algebra
Bridge to the ACT will be offered June 5 – 9 (7:45 am to 12:00 pm), and Spend the Summer Write will be offered June 9, 16, and 23 (1:00-3:00 PM) virtually. Students who possess the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Currently enrolled in 11th grade in a St. Louis metropolitan area high school
- Previously taken the ACT and able to provide an ACT Score Report (Bridge to the ACT only)
Spend the Summer Write is offered by The Office of Precollegiate Student Services. They will host 3 summer writing workshops to cover the outline, writing, and editing process for three Common Application essay prompts. Students will learn to tell their unique stories and use their own voice as they prepare application essays.

USNA Summer Programs
The U.S. Naval Academy’s summer programs applications are live! Summer STEM is for current 8th, 9th, and 10th graders and is a six-day residential camp here at the Academy. Attendees get to do hands-on math and science activities in our labs with our faculty and midshipmen. Summer Seminar is for current 11th graders and is a great opportunity for attendees to see what it would be like to be a student at the Academy.
