The Counseling Office at each Rockwood high school is an excellent resource for students to learn about all aspects of the college/career planning process. The comprehensive guidance curriculum is developmental in nature and addresses three major components: Personal/Social Development, Academic Development, and Career Development. The services of the school counselors are comprehensive, and include individual and group counseling, academic advisement, special topic programs, and diverse resources.
The district's college specialists provide guidance through the world of post-secondary options. These experts are available for individual and family sessions. In addition, the college specialists offer special programming throughout the school year on a variety of topics that deal with post-secondary planning. The specialists partner to host one of the area's largest and most successful college fairs in the fall of each year. The expertise and resources that the Rockwood college specialists provide are tremendous benefits to students and families.
Outstanding computerized database systems such as MIssouir Connections are available in the Counseling Office or can be accessed at home, on the counseling website. The system can be used for locating information about colleges, professional schools, occupations, military careers, financial aid, and scholarships. This accurate and up-to-date information, used in conjunction with other resource materials, provides the means to make informed decisions regarding educational and career choices. The system is available for individual and group use as well as for classroom activities.
