What is ParentSquare?
ParentSquare is a unified communication platform that offers a whole host of tools which allows district, school administrators and teachers to more effectively communicate and engage with families and students. Some features include:
- Mass notifications and Urgent Alerts with two-way communication
- Mobile application for administrators and parents (iOS and Android)
- Attendance notifications
- Teacher and classroom communication
- Direct Messaging with two-way translation
- Appointment Sign Ups (parent-teacher conferences, technology pick-ups)
- Calendar and RSVP
- Volunteering and classroom supply sign-ups
- StudentSquare
- And so much more!

When will Rockwood start communicating with parents using ParentSquare?
Beginning May 16 for Summer Academy families and July 1 for the rest of the district.

Is ParentSquare replacing some existing tools and services that Rockwood has been using?
Yes. Starting July 1, 2022, the following tools and services will no longer be available for Rockwood staff members to use. The functionality of these tools is available in ParentSquare.
- SchoolMessenger
- Rockwood’s Blackboard Mobile App
- ClassDojo
- Remind 101
- GroupMe

Will parents receive notifications from ParentSquare if they do not sign up for ParentSquare?
Yes. All parents have a ParentSquare account. ParentSquare is the primary tool for district and school communication. Individuals who do not activate their account in ParentSquare will still receive an email digest at the end of each day that communication is sent out to them. In the event of emergencies, phone calls will be sent as well.

How can parents change their language settings in ParentSquare?
Parents can update their language preference for their account. Once they have done this, ParentSquare will automatically translate any communication to them in their selected language. This translation will also occur when the parent sends a message to a staff member. Learn more about ParentSquare translations and how to set the language preference.

What is StudentSquare?
StudentSquare has similar features to ParentSquare, but it’s adapted for student use. Rockwood students in grades 6-12 will have access to StudentSquare starting in the fall.

Can parents opt out of ParentSquare?
Yes, but please note that the Rockwood School District, your school, and teachers use ParentSquare to communicate with parents and guardians for information including emergency messages as well as information closely related to the school’s educational mission.
Parents can also opt out of certain communication methods without opting out of ParentSquare entirely:
- Emails: Click the Unsubscribe link in any email you receive
- Text Messages: Click the Opt Out link in the first text message you receive from ParentSquare. You can also reply STOP to any subsequent text you receive.
- Phone Calls: Contact us at 636-733-1140

*Please note that even if you opt out of receiving communication, you will still receive notifications for emergencies and other school information deemed important, such as attendance and lunch balances.

If I am a community member without a student in the district, can I receive school and community newsletters through ParentSquare?
Yes, click on our Community Counts link to fill out a form to receive eNewsletters from Rockwood School District or schools of your choosing through ParentSquare.
