Got Your Back Pack
Did you know?
Homelessness touches nearly every Rockwood school. In fact, current numbers show 112 Rockwood students are homeless with about 50 percent of students residing in the county and 50 percent residing in the city.
How does Got Your Back Pack work?
Each weekend, our homeless students receive a backpack filled with nutritious food items that are easy to open, simple to prepare and can accommodate a variety of living circumstances. Please check out this informational letter.
How can I help?
- Online Donations
When you give a donation using our secured online system, you'll provide funds to add food directly to children's backpacks. Learn more about how you can donate online.
- Where may I donate food items?
You may donate sealed food items to any Rockwood school or community organization hosting local drives to fill our Rockwood Food Pantry.
- What kind of food do students need?
Needed items include: oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna, macaroni and cheese, pasta, spaghetti sauce, rice (bags or boxes - 2 lbs. or less), dried fruit, fruit and vegetables in cans, soups and granola bars. Gift cards to grocery stores to purchase these items are also appreciated.
Thank you for our Rockwood community supporters, including Dierbergs, The Journey, and local farmer's markets.
