Filing to Run for the Board of Education

Rockwood residents may file as candidates for the Rockwood School District Board of Education from Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 8 a.m. until Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 5 p.m. Election Day is April 7, 2026.

Rockwood residents may file their candidacy at the school district's Administrative Center, located at 111 E. North St. in Eureka. Candidates may file Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for Dec. 24 through Dec. 29, when the district is closed, and on any day the offices are closed due to inclement weather or any other emergency. Offices will be open for candidate filing from 2-5 p.m. on Dec. 30.

When filing, the applicant will complete a written declaration of candidacy. Interested candidates may pick up an information packet from Rockwood's administrative offices or fill it out ahead of time before filing. Please note: if you choose to fill it out ahead of time, do not sign the documents, as those need to be witnessed when you file in person.

Candidates must be citizens of the United States, resident taxpayers of the Rockwood School District, reside in the Rockwood School District and the state of Missouri for at least one year preceding the election and at least 24 years of age.  Candidates may not be registered sex offenders or required to be registered as sexual offenders, have been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under the federal laws of the United States or to a felony under the laws of this state or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in Missouri, have been found guilty of or pled guilty to first or second degree assault or harassment that occurred on school district grounds, or be delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence listed on the candidate's declaration, or be a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state.
