Superintendent Comments
In his Superintendent Comments at the June 5, 2025, Board of Education meeting, Dr. Curtis Cain shared the following updates:
- New Prop 3 Website: I wanted to draw our community’s attention to the newly designed and updated Proposition 3 site: Prop3.rsdmo.org. If you visit the site, you will find an overview of what Proposition 3 means for the future of Rockwood, as well as the presentations that were shared with the community and frequently asked questions. You will also find a list of priority projects for Prop 3 funds at each school and specific safety, technology and facilities projects planned for 2025 and 2026, as well as their project costs. We hope you will take some time to familiarize yourself with the site as we strive to keep our promise of being fiscally responsible and transparent with this trust that you, the voters, have placed in us. I would also like to commend our Facilities, Finance, Technology and Communications team members for their hard work in updating the Prop 3 site with a wealth of information in an easily navigated format.
- Babler, Chesterfield, Eureka Elementary, Selvidge Named National Schools of Character: Babler, Chesterfield and Eureka elementary schools and Selvidge Middle are among 71 schools nationally and 13 in Missouri certified as 2025 National Schools of Character by Character.org. This program recognizes schools that demonstrate a focus on character development that has positively impacted academic achievement, student behavior and school climate. This is the first time Eureka has earned National School of Character, the second time for Babler, third time for Selvidge and fourth time for Chesterfield, the only school in the state to have earned the national distinction four times. Congratulations to these four schools' students, staff members, families and communities on this well-deserved recognition for your dedication to keeping character at the forefront of what you do.
- Rockwood Celebrates the Last Day of School: Finally, May 23 marked the last day of the 2024-2025 school year in the Rockwood School District. All around the district, students and staff members ended another great school year with hugs, high-fives, waves and well-wishes. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our community for another fantastic school year in Rockwood. And I hope you all have a safe, fun and relaxing summer. Let’s watch this video of some scenes from the last day of school at Kellison Elementary.
