Superintendent Comments

In his Superintendent Comments at the March 27, 2025, Board of Education meeting, Dr. Curtis Cain shared the following updates:

  • Storms impacted a number of buildings across the Rockwood School District on March 14. Our Facilities team was on site first thing the next morning to assess the damage and check every building. I want to send a heartfelt thank you to our Facilities and Technology teams for their prompt response - especially when the rest of the district was on Spring Break - to address any issues and prepare our buildings to welcome students and staff back on Monday.
  • Late last month, the ROSE Award patrol crisscrossed the district to honor this year’s 15 recipients of the prestigious ROSE Award. The ROSE Award honors the best of Rockwood. Nearly 230 nominations were submitted for this year's ROSE Awards, with stories highlighting excellence of character, leadership, performance and extraordinary service to Rockwood. Congratulations to this year’s ROSE Award recipients!
  • Throughout February, each Rockwood school announced its own Teacher of the Year. That teacher is now eligible to complete the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education application for the district-level program. In the coming weeks, we will be selecting our grade-level Teachers of the Year, who will then be under consideration for the 2025-2026 Rockwood School District Teacher of the Year. Our building-level recipients will be honored – along with ROSE and Cornerstone Award recipients, Service Award honorees and retirees – and our district Teacher of the Year will be named at the ROSE Awards ceremony and dinner on April 27 at the DoubleTree in Chesterfield. Congratulations to all 31 of our outstanding building-level Teachers of the Year.
  • Green Pines Elementary students Brynn and Maggie are traditional Irish dancers, and they recently teamed up with Rockwood South Middle student Marijo to treat us to this rousing rendition of "Rattlin' Bog." Brynn and Maggie also performed for their classmates at Green Pines the morning of March 14, the last day before Spring Break. Let’s watch.
