Superintendent Comments

In his Superintendent Comments at the Nov. 7, 2024, Board of Education meeting, Dr. Curtis Cain shared the following updates:

  • All four Rockwood School District high schools are among a select group of schools from the US and Canada to earn 2024 AP School Honor Roll recognition. The Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access.
  • The Rockwood School District Strategic Plan Steering Committee held its second meeting on Oct. 22, as part of the yearlong process to help prepare for a new district strategic plan for 2025-2030. In addition to the committee's work, Rockwood community members will have opportunities to have their voices heard through the process of creating the strategic plan. The next community engagement meeting will be held on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. at Eureka High.
  • Rockwood is forming a Capital Planning Advisory Committee made up of representatives from every patron group to provide feedback and input on various aspects of the district's financial planning and communication with stakeholders. This includes offering feedback on the strategies used to communicate ongoing Proposition 3 budgeting and spending, as well as the capital planning process in general. Learn more – including how to register your interest in serving on the committee – at rsdmo.org.
  • Congratulations to the players and coaches of the Lafayette High softball team, which brought home the Class 5 state championship last Friday. Senior Abby Carr pitched a no-hitter, and junior Riley Mulligan hit a walk-off, three-run home run in extra innings to bring the Lancers their ninth state softball title and first since 2007.
  • Dr. Cain addressed localized flooding in the Eureka area and how staff members, students and community members have worked together to ensure minimal interruptions to regular educational activities.
