The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is
cosponsored by College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
NMSC is an independent, not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. NMSC conducts the National Merit Scholarship Program, an annual academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. The PSAT/NMSQT is the screening test for high school students who wish to participate in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Preparing for the PSAT/NMSQT
How Students Receive Their Scores
- Students will receive an email with information about accessing their scores by creating or logging in to their College Board online account.
- Scores are available online, usually in December.
- Paper score reports and test booklets are available in January (distribution method TBD by your school).
- Nothing is mailed home by College Board or Rockwood
- Students who qualify for National Merit Semi-Finalist or other awards will be notified in fall of 12th grade.
