The Coordinated School Health Committee has been working district wide to assess our current status in meeting the Missouri Eat Smart Guidelines as outlined in Regulation 1820. Many thanks for your assistance in gathering that information. After data collection and analysis, the committee would like to make the following recommendations. Recommendations for the high school level are focused on vending, school stores and fundraising, specifically during the school day and before school meal periods. Fundraising after the school day is not impacted by these recommendations.
The MO Eat Smart Guidelines can be a bit confusing to interpret; please feel free to refer any questions to Carmen Fischer or Amy Wehr. At the high school level, the vendor who stocks your machines may need to be provided with the guidelines.
The coordinated school health committee will be working with communications, PTOs and our community to effectively communicate the rationale and need for these changes. Our goal is to support you and have that support in place throughout the district and at all levels.
Please note: Proposed USDA regulations MAY alter these recommendations. Our committee will review the finalized regulations once available and advise you of any updates to these recommendations as soon as possible.
