Board of Education Award
Nominees may include students, parents, staff, community members or organizations. Below are a few examples of activities and achievements that may be considered for a Board of Education Award.
- A superior accomplishment or achievement recognized at the state or national level relating to any curricular area of education.
- A scholastic achievement such as a National Merit Semi-Finalist, a Missouri Scholars' Academy commendation or selection to the Missouri Fine Arts Academy.
- The equivalent of first or second place in a state or national competition achieved by a team.
- The equivalent of first, second or third place in a state or national competition achieved by an individual.
- The equivalent of a Superior/Exemplary or Gold rating at a state or national music competition at the high school level.
- A ranking of Excellent (1) at Missouri Large Ensemble Festival.
- A Best of Show, All Missouri, or Superior rating by the Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association
- Initial achievement of National Board Certification.
- A finalist at a national Band of America Competition.
- Character Education Awards, including National School of Character winners, finalists or Profiles in Character Awards.
- Designation of Coach of the Year by a state or national coaches association.
- Designation as first-team All-State
Athletics
- The top half of the placements for individual state placements earn a Board Award
- Tennis - Top 4 individuals (they place 8)
- Wrestling - Top 3 individuals (they place 6)
- Track & Field - Top 4 individuals (they place 8)
- Cross Country - Top 15 individuals (they place 30)
- Golf - Top 7 individuals? (They place 15)
- Swimming & Diving - Top 4 individuals (They place 8)
- 1st Team All-State for team sports that don't have individual
- Team - Top 4 (earning a state team plaque)
Superintendent's Certificate
Nominees may include students, parents, staff, community members or organizations.
Listed below are a few examples of activities and achievements that may be considered for a Superintendent's Certificate:
- A superior achievement or accomplishment recognized at the local or regional level relating to any curricular area of education
- Third or fourth place in a state or national competition by a team.
- Fourth place or below in a MSHSAA or equivalent status in their activity by an individual.
- Fourth place or below in a state or national competition in a Rockwood sponsored sport that competes in MSHSAA or equivalent status in their activity by an individual or relay team.
- Designation as third-team All-State from Missouri State High School Activities Association (MHSAA).
- Honorable Mention in an All State status MSHAA or equivalent; i.e., character education, fine arts, all-state music ensembles, dance, FBLA, etc.
- An Excellent rating or Honorable Mention from the Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association.
- A finalist at a regional Band of America Competition.
- First or second place at a high school level All-Metro Competition.
- The equivalent of an Outstanding or Silver rating at a state or national high school music competition.

- Tennis - 5-8th Place individuals (they place 8)
- Wrestling - 4th-6th place individuals (they place 6)
- Track & Field - 5-8th place individuals (they place 8)
- Cross Country - 16-30th place individuals (they place 30)
- Golf - Top 8 individuals -15th place? (They place 15)
- Swimming & Diving - 5-8th place individuals (They place 8)
- 2nd Team, 3rd Team & Honorable Mention All-State for team sports that don't have individual
Community Service Certificate
Nominees may include students, parents, staff, community members or organizations. Listed below are examples of activities that may be considered for a Community Service Certificate.
- A person who organizes or leads a major contribution to a community service project or student program.
- A major service project aimed at promoting community spirit and impacting the Rockwood School District.
Above and Beyond Award
Nominees may include students, parents, staff, community members or organizations.
Listed below are a few examples of activities and achievements that may be considered for an Above and Beyond Award.
- Having completed a term as an officer of a state or national office of an education-related organization.
- Chairing or co-chairing a major Rockwood districtwide event or committee.
- A major contribution of capital, supplies or equipment ($5,000 or more) that will enhance education in the Rockwood School District.
- An act of life-saving heroism performed by a student or an adult.
