Educational Access
The Educational Access Department in the Rockwood School District is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students, families and staff feel valued. Through a variety of programs, community partnerships and student-focused initiatives, Educational Access works to remove barriers and ensure every student has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
Educational Access actively engages with schools and the community through initiatives such as "REducational AccessD" visits to elementary schools, puppet shows with special guests, high school freshman orientations and College Night. The department also supports students and families through on-site school visits, conflict resolution and mediation services, and partnerships that provide essential resources such as student support, classroom snacks, and playground access for students of all ability levels. Programs like the "We Find a Way" Grant offer additional opportunities for students, reinforcing the district's commitment to equity.
Collaboration is at the heart of Educational Access's work. The department plays a key role in professional development, offering new teacher orientation with an equity focus, dignity and belonging consulting, and partnerships on building goals aligned with the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). Educational Access also participates in regional equity meetings, facilitates student groups and leads initiatives that support adults and children in the Rockwood School District.
Educational Access is committed to celebrating student success and fostering a culture of belonging through monthly newsletters and podcasts that highlight the voices and experiences of students, staff and community members. Through these efforts, the Educational Access Department continues to shape a future where every Rockwood student feels seen, heard and supported.
