More than 1,400 Rockwood students are city residents participating in the Voluntary Student Transfer Program. Children from our city neighborhoods represent about eight percent of the district’s total student enrollment.
Rockwood is proud of the achievements of our voluntary transfer students and recognizes improving student achievement for all children takes a community-wide effort. The Educational Equity and Diversity Department is comprised of a a team of individuals who provide personalized support to our students, schools and families.
This year, students at Eureka High School have been using the dynamic force of personal connections to encourage underclassmen to seek help and advice from older students.
It's called the Fellowship of Young Men. It was organized at the request of a senior who desired to help his ninth grade counterparts whose transition to high school mirrored his own.
Another group, Women Empowering Women, follows the same path.
"It's a sisterhood of sorts," said senior Martresa Landers, "where we all help each other."
