Student Teaching

Rockwood welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall and spring semesters (this does not include Summer Academy).

Student Teaching

To request a placement for student teaching, please submit the following:

  • Written placement request from your university, listing:
    • Description of the assignment
    • Certification Level
    • Certification Subject
    • Assignment starting and ending date, or total hours required
  • Student's profile, bio or resume
  • Student's transcripts (if in a Master's program, graduate and undergraduate transcripts)
  • 2-3 Letters of recommendation
  • Criminal background check clearance
    • Documentation of FBI Fingerprinting completed within the last twelve months (requirement effective beginning with 2011-12 student teachers)
    • Documentation of a Division of Social Services Central Registry Child Abuse Search completed within the last six months

Student Observing

To request a placement for student observing, please submit the following:

  • Written placement request from your university, listing:
    • Description of the assignment
    • Certification Level
    • Certification Subject
    • Assignment starting and ending date and total hours required
  • Criminal background check clearance
    • Documentation of a Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Record Check completed within the last twelve months
    • Documentation of a Division of Social Services Central Registry Child Abuse Search completed within the last six months

An observation for 10 hours or less only requires a request from the university. After a request is received from a university, it is then forwarded to the appropriate school. Once the principal responds, an e-mail will be sent advising if the request is approved and whether or not to contact the school.
