Training
Options-Based Response
The district has updated our intruder drills to provide staff with an options-based response. This means our staff members have been trained and have practiced how to lock down, barricade and evacuate students to a safe location outside the school building.
CERT Training
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates school staff about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Health Response
Rockwood Health and Wellness offers courses for all staff in the areas of first aid, CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. All schools are equipped with at least one AED device. In addition, all schools have a nurse for medical care and to advance the well-being and academic success of students, specifically through health education and promotion.
Annual Employee Trainings
All staff participate in annual training on suicide prevention, child abuse, bloodborne pathogens, harassment and workplace safety.
Stop the Bleed and CPR Training
All school staff have the opportunity to participate in Stop the Bleed and CPR training. In an emergency, those with knowledge of CPR and tourniquet training will save lives. The more staff we can have trained in these areas, the better.
