 Student Registration

All student registration is arranged at the local school level. Please contact your school. To determine school assignment, please refer to attendance zone maps.

After determining your school attendance area, visit the Student Enrollment​​ page for a complete list of enrollment requirements.

Children must be five-years old prior to August 1 in order to start kindergarten and six-years prior to August 1 to attend first-grade.

The kindergarten registration dates for the 2018-2019 school year are Wednesday, January 17, 2018 and Thursday, January 18, 2018. If you miss these dates, you may register any time at the school your child will attend.

Yes, Rockwood offers tuition-free, full-day kindergarten.

Rockwood offers Parents ​as Te​achers and preschool programs.

Child care is also available through the School Age Adventure Club program.

Introductory English instruction is offered through the district's ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program. For more information visit the ESOL Department.

All Rockwood schools are known as centers of academic excellence. However, we do offer the option of having a child attend a different attendance area. "Limited School Choice Request" forms are available at each school location. Yearly application is required, and approval is based upon available space. Transportation is not available. The Board approved the following tuition and transportation rates for 2018-2019:

  • high school $11,514
  • middle school $11,297
  • elementary school $11,553​

The board established the transportation rate at $636.

Curriculum study and writing is a continuous improvement process. Each curriculum document is reviewed on an annual basis and is revised and updated (in-depth year) on a six-year cycle via approval of the Rockwood Board of Education. View the ​Curriculum Development and Maintenance Schedule.

Rockwood provides a wide range of programs for students who are identified as gifted. At the elementary level, students attend the Center for Creative Learning one day per week and also receive gifted resource services at their home school. At the middle school level, students are offered a course titled Academic Stretch. Academic Stretch is paired in the block schedule with an accelerated Language Arts course.

The middle schools also offer Challenge classes in all major content areas. At the high school level, gifted resource teachers support students in a variety of ways, including helping to plan their high school course of study, investigating summer and independent study opportunities, and supporting the college application process. The high schools also offer a wide range of Honors and AP classes. For additional information about Rockwood's gifted program, contact the Center for Creative Learning.

Parents of children 3-5 years who suspect their child may have a delay should contact Kristin Clemons at 636-891-6214.

Parents of children 5-21 years who reside in Rockwood and have students that are home-schooled or attend a private/parochial school in Rockwood should contact Special School District to inquire about the special education process at 314-989-8239.

Parents of children 5-21 years who attend public school and suspect a delay should contact their student's teacher or counselor to inquire about the special education process.  Contact Jamie Smith at 636-733-2153 for additional assistance.  

The Rockwood Board of Education typically meets the first and third Thursdays of each month. The first session of the month is a workshop meeting, during which patrons may attend and address any issue on the agenda. At the second meeting patrons may comment on any subject. Meetings may be combined in July and December.
