Prop S - Tax Rate Calculator

Use the tool below to calculate how paying an additional $0.45 to the Rockwood School District could impact your property tax bill.
Be aware that there are other factors that might also change your tax bill, including reassessment of your property value and changes in the tax rate of other taxing districts (e.g., your local fire district, library district, sewer district, the St. Louis County Special School District, etc.)
This is an estimate only. This calculates the impact of the $0.45 increase using the home value you enter. The County Assessor’s appraised value of your property can be found on the estimated tax statement you received from your county tax assessor in the spring of 2025.
Here’s how the tax calculator works:
| Steps | Formulas | Examples |
|---|---|---|
|
County Assessor’s appraised value of example property |
A | $400,000 |
|
Statewide assessment rate for residential property |
B | x 19% |
|
Assessed value of example property |
A x B | $76,000 |
| Change in Rockwood School District operating tax rate per $100 of assessed value | C | x $0.45 |
| Impact of change in tax rate (annual) | A x B x C / $100 | $342 |
| Impact of change in tax rate (per month) | Divide by 12 | $28.50 |
Please Note
Prop S, if passed, would impact the tax rate that is set in tax year 2026.
For senior citizens who apply for—and qualify for—the St. Louis County Senior Property Tax Freeze prior to June 30, 2026, and are approved for the 2026 tax year would see no increase in the tax due in 2026 as a result of the Prop S increase. To continue to qualify for the freeze in 2027 and beyond, property owners must then renew their qualification each year.
