.Please note: beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, as a result of staffing shortages, we are unable to provide before and after care for the full-day Early Childhood program. We are very sorry that we can no longer provide this added service for our families. If our staffing situation improves, we will gladly reinstate our extended-care options.

Rockwood Full Day Preschool provides working families with the convenience of a comprehensive preschool program where children are engaged in rich academic and social experiences in a warm, welcoming environment. This program's hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Full-Day Preschool features multi-age groupings for two, three or five days per week. The program is open 12 months per year.

What are the qualifications of the teachers?
All Rockwood Early Childhood teachers are certified with the State of Missouri in Early Childhood and/or Early Childhood Special Education. Many of our teachers have more advanced degrees including National Board Certification! Classrooms are staffed with at least one teacher and one assistant.

What will my child be learning while at school?
Rockwood has developed our own curriculum that is board approved and aligned to the Rockwood Kindergarten curriculum. Our curriculum includes:
- Support for Social /Emotional development, self- regulation and problem solving skills
- Language and literacy curriculum components emphasize the development of oral language, vocabulary, reading and writing for a purpose, phonemic awareness, concepts of print and pre-reading skills
- Discover science curriculum includes exploring, predicting and problem solving
- Art, music, movement, dramatic and imaginative pretend play are an integral part of the program
- Technology – We are preparing the learner of tomorrow through the use of touch –screen computer screens and Smartboards in every classroom.

How will you differentiate for my child in activities?
Young children learn and develop at different rates. Some children will need extra support to learn. Our highly trained teachers pay attention to all aspects of your child’s development.
The Early Childhood department also offers several support systems to meet your child’s individual needs:
- Screening

- Team meetings with families to address academic concerns
- Team meetings with families to address behavioral concerns

- Transitions for children going to kindergarten

Rockwood Early Childhood is a fee-based program. It is our goal to provide high quality preschool education for all children at an affordable price.
