This is a compacted math course that covers a full year of sixth-grade math content and half of seventh-grade math content. Students who choose to enroll in Integrated Math 6/7 will be learning at a faster pace as math concepts are compacted into a shorter time frame. Ramp Up to Math 6/7 is an online summer course that prepares students who were recommended to take Math 6 to receive extra support and practice of key skills in order to prepare them for the compacted Math 6/7 course instead. Upon successful completion of this online summer course, students will be enrolled in Integrated Math 6/7 for the upcoming school year. This online course is for students who enrolled in Ramp Up. It is for students who are identified as needing extra support for being prepared for Integrated Math 6/7 as sixth graders.

Ramp Up to Math 6/7 is offered in an online learning format. It is available during Summer Academy, which takes place from June 8-July 7, 2023 (four weeks). 

Throughout the four weeks, students work at their own pace at anytime of the day and anywhere they have internet access. Thus, students can complete coursework as it fits into their summer schedule. They should expect to spend approximately 60 hours during the four-week timeframe to complete the course.

Ramp Up to Math 6/7 will allow students to strengthen their knowledge of essential fifth-grade math content and prepare them for a compacted course. Instruction will focus on three critical areas. Students will:

1. write and evaluate numerical expressions
2. perform operations and solve problems with fractions and decimals
3. represent and analyze patterns and relationships

Ramp Up to Math 6/7 will utilize Canvas, our district learning management system. The online class will be similar to classroom instruction. Students will:

• View instructional videos
• Complete assignments and upload work to the system
• Take online assessments
• Participate in discussions with classmates and the teacher
• Communicate directly with the teacher if they have questions
• Receive timely feedback on progress

Students will need to connect to the internet, as well as a computer or a Rockwood-issued Chromebook. District-provided internet access is available if needed.
