Board of Education Resolution

Whereas, the members of the Rockwood Board of Education always welcome the opportunity to support military-connected students and their families; and

Whereas, the Rockwood School District serves approximately 19,402 K-12 students and has, on average, 30-40 students enlist in the military after graduation, accept an ROTC scholarship or a military academy appointment; and

Whereas, the Rockwood School District is committed to and supportive of its military-connected students and families by recognizing that frequent moves, family separations through deployments, and reintegration present unique challenges to military children and families; and

Whereas, Rockwood School District administration, faculty, staff and students recognize and express our gratitude to the men, women, and families who make sacrifices to serve in the United States Armed Forces; and

Whereas, Rockwood School District is committed to supporting military families by offering a meaningful, challenging education, quality character education, social-emotional support and a welcoming school community; and

Whereas, the District’s mission statement is “We do whatever it takes to ensure all students realize their potential;”

Now, therefore, be it resolved that we, the members of the Rockwood School District Board of Education, are committed to the school district's long-standing tradition of serving the military students whose families serve our great country; and

Be it further resolved that the Rockwood School District Board of Education will make reasonable efforts to ensure support for military-connected families with resources to which they are entitled.

Dated this 19th day of December, 2023.
