- Advocacy Day Follow Up
Discussion held about what went well:
- MSBA hand out about bills impacting education
- Having a room reserved so legislators could come meet with RSD board members
Thank you notes have been sent to legislators that met with board members. Discussion held about having a pre-legislative session meeting with only RSD legislators.
- Board Award legislative invites
Committee will continue to extend invitations to legislators to attend Board Award ceremonies. Other potential events the committee could extend legislative invites to:
- Veterans Day events
- International Festivals
- Career Explo
- Special Olympics events
Committee will share the new CSIP plan once it has been finalized and approved.
- Review legislative updates
Discussion held around the latest update from School Administrators’ Coalition Legislative Bulletin. Discussion held about what to highlight at the next Board meeting:
- Cell phone policies (SB 68)
- School calendar relief for inclement weather (HB 607)
- Open Enrollment (HB 711)
- Keeping an eye on the budget discussions
