- Board Award legislative invites
Discussion around invites and that Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman accepted and was in attendance at the Dec. 5 Board Awards.
- Joint Parkway/Rockwood meeting with new legislators
Discussed the meeting on Jan. 3 and who the new legislators are:- Sen. David Gregory (replaces Sen. Andrew Koenig, who reached the end of his term)
- Rep. Jaclyn Zimmermann (replaces Rep. Deb Lavender, who reached the end of her term)
- Rep. Cecelie Williams (replaces Rep. Gary Bonacker, who reached the end of his term)
- Reviewed the legislative calendar
The legislative session begins Jan. 8 and typically goes through May (or longer).
- Reviewed the Legislative Platform from EdPlus/MSBA
- Discussed local platform vs. state level
- Reviewed EdPlus platform
- Prefiled bills in MO legislature (per Gary Hockman St. Louis Board PLC - as of Friday 12/6)
- 401 house bills
- 476 senate bills
- 45 related to education
- Discussed sending a letter to RSD legislators from the BOE sharing what was reviewed and approved related to the Legislative Platform
- Discussed building relationships with our legislators
- Discussed palm card with logo and QR code to easily share:
- Legislative Platform
- Pride points
- Fiscal responsibility
- Rankings - US News, etc.
- Safety report
- Committee members and BOE president will share the Edplus Legislative Platform at the Jan. BOE meeting as part of the Advocacy Meeting update
- Discussed local platform vs. state level
