HONOR CORD REQUIREMENTS & COLORS for Senior Class of 2020

Congratulation Seniors on completing your 7th semester of High School, it is time to determine if you are eligible to wear  Honor Cords at Graduation. As you will see with the attached Google form, each department has different requirements that need to be met in order to qualify.

Seniors:  Please complete the Honor Cord Google Link​ by reviewing the qualifications for each of the 15 Honor Cords offered by Lafayette High School.  After selecting your name, please check the Honor Cord(s) of which you have met the criteria.  You may only fill out this form one time.  Please note, your Graduation Honor Cord Request Form must be submitted by March 8, 2020, in order to be considered. 

Parents:  Please encourage your students to complete this Honor Cord Google form before the requested deadline of March 8th.  Your student should submit the form using their Rockwood email and we would appreciate your support in ensuring your student completes the form.  Thank you for your assistance!​

Four semesters of Industrial and Engineering Classes and have an unweighted 4.0 in all Industrial and Engineering Classes
Gold
Must have recommendation from the Industrial and Engineering Department
LANGUAGE ARTS
Enrolled in 8 semesters of Language Arts coursework
Red
Achieved a 4.0 GPA in all Language Arts coursework for 7 completed semesters
MATHEMATICS
Four years of math or completed calculus (this must include at least algebra 3 and trigonometry)
Light Blue
Have a GPA in math classes of 3.8 or higher
Have all math grades B or above (no C's in math even a weighted class.)
MUSIC
Must be enrolled in a performing music ensemble for 8 consecutive semesters (grades 9-12)
Green
Must achieve a 3.71 in all music coursework (based on first 7 semesters)
Must be recommended by a staff member of the music department
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Complete 6 semester courses (not including Health)
Sage
Maintain a 3.6 GPA in PE classes
Maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 2.75
Good Citizenship
Recommendation by department member
AFJROTC
Requires a 3.5 GPA in this class and
Maize
20 hours of community service for each year of enrollment in JROTC
SCIENCE
Complete a minimum of 7 semesters of science in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Silver
No more than 2 B's (unweighted) in all science courses.
Computer Science is not considered a science for the Science Honor Cord.
PLTW Biomedical Science is not considered a science for the Science Honor Cord.
SOCIAL STUDIES
4.0 in 7 or more semesters of social studies
Navy
All social studies courses taken will figure into the GPA
