    BEST BUDDIES:  Hello! Best Buddies will be having Science Fun with Mrs. Heinemann and Mrs. Moosmann on Wednesday, February 12.  We will meet in Mrs. Toth's room 604 for attendance and then head down for some fun! It's definitely not too late to become a member!     JUNIOR RENAISSANCE:  The ceremonies for 6th and 7th grade will take place on February 4. 6th grade begins at 5:30 pm and 7th grade, 7:00 pm. The 8th grade recognition ceremony will be February 6 at 6:00 pm. Families of students earning a 3.5 or above GPA for the first semester should have received an invitation in the mail.

    Students receiving recognition are encouraged to dress business casual, dressy, but not formal. Blue jeans or t-shirts are not allowed. Suggested attire for boys is khakis, dress pants and a collared shirt, girls, a blouse with a skirt, slacks or a dress.

    Week of January 27-31

    NJHS "SOUP"er Bowl:  Pancake breakfast anyone? Bring in canned food items from January 21-January 31. Take your cans to 2nd hour, 1st encore for 8th grade to be counted. The class that brings in the most cans will get a pancake breakfast courtesy of our chefs Mr. Wilken, Mr. Gabris and Dr. Colgren! Then take your cans to the commons and place them on the side of the football field for the team you hope wins the Super Bowl!

    LOCK IN:  Don't miss all the fun! The 1st LSMS Lock-In is scheduled for January 31 6pm-9pm. Tickets are $25 per child. Glow T-Shirts are $12. Lock-in will be open to current 6th and 7th grade LSMS students and 5th graders who will be attending LSMS next year. Ticket includes a black light dance party, DJ, Games, prizes and lots more fun. Space is limited. Buy tickets now!

    2020 National Geographic Bee:  Thank you to all the Wildcats who participated in the LSMS Geo Bee! We would like to congratulate the following grade level winners!

    Sam will take the final test that will be sent to the National Geographic Society to be scored against other Missouri students. The top 100 scores advance to the state competition this spring. Good luck, Sam!

    virtual reality exploration:  Experiment with Virtual Reality Goggles in the library after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Space is limited to 15 students per day and Google Expeditions App must be downloaded from home to a phone before participating. See Mrs. Thompson for more information.

    Weight lifting meeting:  Are you interested in improving your health and fitness? We have a weightlifting meeting Thursday, January 9 in the Fitness Center after school. We want only serious students who want to make a difference in their own health and wellness! Join us!

    BEST BUDDIES:   We all love decorating cookies for the holidays! And, there's nothing more fun than decorating with our Best Buddies. Join us on Wednesday, December 11 in the commons holiday fun! Not an official member of Best Buddies yet? That's ok! Just sign up on the after-school Google form to stay with us, and at the event, one of the Best Buddies' leaders will help you get signed up. Come and join us for a fun afternoon of games and giggles! (this event is limited to the first 30 students to sign up) 

    Super Smash Bros Tournament:  The tournament will take place Wednesday Dec. 11 in 303. Students MUST have submitted a permission form to Mr. Carpenter to attend, even if they only plan to spectate. The forms are due back to Mr. Carpenter by Tuesday. Dec. 10.

    FLL:  The Team Celebration for FLL Flood Force 215 will be on Wednesday, Dec. 11 until 3:40 in Mrs. Cox's room.

    PAJAMA DAYS AT LSMS:  Bring $1.00, get a sticker on Monday and Tuesday and wear your PJ'S to school! All proceeds go to the LSMS Adopt A Family collection.

    COIN CHALLENGE:  Bring in your spare change or dollars for the Adopt-A-Family Coin Challenge. The grade level that collects the most will receive a reward at the end of the collection. We are collecting up until the Thanksgiving Holiday. Proceeds go to the LSMS Adopt-A-Family program which takes care of families right here in our school! Thank you for your generosity!

    KINDNESS WEEK:  The LSMS Kindness Crew has been hard at work planning our 2019 Kindness Week! Join staff and students in promoting kindness by dressing this week as listed below.

    • Monday-- Neon Rock Star Day:  Stand Out and Stand Up to Bullying. Kindness melodies will be played over the intercom before school, during passing times and after school to kick off our Kindness Week!
    • Tuesday - Tie-Dye/Camo Day:  Peace, Love and Kindness. Spread Peace Love and Kindness Challenge Day.
    • Wednesday -- PJ Day:  Dream of Kindness. An anti-bullying movie will be shown followed by discussions to dream of kindness at LSMS.
    • Thursday -- Boots & Social Media Day:  Stomp Out Bullying on Social Media (SnapChat = Yellow, TikTok = Black/White, Instagram = Rainbow, Twitter = Blue)

    NATIONAL SCHOOL PRINCIPAL MONTH:  October is National School Principal Month. When you see Mr. Wilken, Mr. Gabris or Dr. Colgren in the hallways thank them for all they do for our students, school and staff! They are the very best!

    ACTIVITY BUSES:  Activity buses will only be available at 4:30 on Wednesdays until further notice. Buses will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the remainder of the year unless otherwise notified. As of today, the only exception is the month of April.

    FLL:  FLL Flood Force Team 215 will meet on Wednesday and Thursday until 4:00 pm. The EHS Robotics team will be presenting on Thursday October 17th.

    POWDER PUFF TEAMS:  7th and 8th grade girls wanting to participate in the Powder Puff game, Wednesday, October 16, need to turn in a team form to the Intramural box by Oct. 14. Forms are located on the activity board across from the fitness center or you can pick one up from your coach.

    POWDER PUFF TICKETS:  Tickets will be on sale during lunch for $2.00. You must have a ticket to attend the game. Student tickets will not be sold at the gate. Adult tickets can be purchased at the game.

    MINECRAFT CLUB:  The Minecraft Club will be available to 8th graders ONLY this Thursday. Students who participate will have to have the Minecraft application loaded to their phone. If 8th grade students are interested, they will need to contact Ms. Giden for approval

    BEST BUDDIES:  We all know we love ice cream. How would you like to make some with your best friends? On October 17 in the commons, Best Buddies at LaSalle Springs will be doing just that. Not an official member of Best Buddies? That's ok! Just sign up on the after-school Google form and during the event one of the Best Buddies leaders will help you get signed up. Come and join us for this sweet treat!

    CROSS COUNTRY MEET:  The Rockwood School District Cross Country Meet is Friday, October 18 from 4:00-5:30 pm at Crestview Middle School.
