Summer Learning Opportunities for Summer 2025
Rockwood offers a small selection of courses for students who wish to earn first-time credit during the summer. Summer enrollment has the same deadlines as traditional course enrollment. Students should select summer coursework in the “Summer First-Time Credit Options” section of the course planner. Summer courses will be scheduled the summer PRIOR to the school year in which they are selected. For example, if a student places a summer course on their planner for the 2025-26 school year, the student is choosing to take the course in Summer 2025.
The following courses are available for first-time credit. Students may take up to 1 full credit (2 courses) of first-time coursework during the summer.

Important factors to consider before committing to summer coursework:
- Coursework is compacted from the 18-week curriculum that is used during the school year, so students can expect to spend approximately 3-4 hours per day on assignments outside of instruction for each course they choose to take.
- Online courses are asynchronous, meaning that students do not have to attend live lessons at specific times. However, the teacher determines the course pace and specific due dates for assignments. The full content of online courses is not provided at the beginning of the course and students do not work at their own pace.
- Due to summer timelines, extensions for coursework are not granted. All coursework must be completed as outlined by the teacher in order to receive credit.
- Summer coursework is optional; students can still graduate on time without taking summer coursework. Students need 24 credits to graduate. The Rockwood high school schedule permits them to take 28 credits throughout the course of their 4 years in high school.
