Chesterfield Elementary students, staff and community members gathered for a Wednesday morning concert by the Tuesday Night Rock Band.
At the assembly, Chesterfield Principal Dr. Meg Brooks accepted an award from representatives of the Missouri Pollinator Network for the school's prairie grass efforts on behalf of the monarch butterfly.
"These are people who feel passionate about nature, and two of our teachers, Ms. Baker and Ms. Hlavaty, assembled a beautiful area in back of our campus," said Brooks. "The organization recognized us for the monarch butterfly garden we have."
Members of the Tuesday Night Rock Band are students at Lafayette High.
"We are fortunate that the daughter of our secretary, Ms. Black, is a performer, and we are glad to have them," said principal Dr. Meg Brooks.
It's all part of Brooks' monthly Leadership Day assembly.
"It's a wonderful way to bring in our entire community," said Brooks. "Many of our parents attend every month, and we get to highlight the wonderful things going on in our building."
