This school year, the Rockwood Transportation Department will carry about 12,000-13,000 students to and from school over 1,000 routes covering the 150 square miles of the Rockwood School District.
Director Transportation Mike Heyman, his staff and the district's 182 bus drivers are up to the challenge.
"There's nothing more important than getting the kids transported to school safely and effectively, on time, every day," Heyman said.
With the start of school less than a week away, parents still have time to familiarize themselves with their students' bus stop information for the 2019-2020 school year by logging on to e-Link
. Parents must know their child's student number, which can be found in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Use the student number as both the user ID and password to sign into e-Link. Then click "Work with Students," then "View my Students," then click on the student's name to access the student's specific bus information.
Heyman said drivers finished up dry runs around the district in the weeks before the start of school to get to know their routes.
"Have your kids out on time for the first day of school and be patient," Heyman said. "The first day of school, the first couple of weeks, everyone has to get into the routine of coming back to school."
