February is Black History Month, and Rockwood schools are commemorating the occasion with a variety of events and activities celebrating Black achievement.
Rockwood South and Wildwood middle schools are devoting their morning announcements to educating about notable Black historical figures all month long, while LaSalle Springs Middle students are producing a video series titled “A Moment in Black History.”
Ridge Meadows Elementary has a Periodic Table of Black History posted in one of its main hallways, and Eureka Elementary has a Walk of Fame that celebrates important figures from the St. Louis area. Both of those displays incorporate QR codes that students can scan with their devices to watch a short video and learn more about each figure.
Those are only a few examples of the terrific, educational methods our schools are utilizing to celebrate Black History Month. Be sure to check out our district website and social media channels (
Facebook,
Twitter,
YouTube and
Instagram) throughout the month for photos, videos and more!
