This morning, Governor Mike Parson held a press conference with updates on COVID-19 and the progress toward the development of a vaccine. We also heard from Missouri Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven with special guidance for quarantining processes for Missouri schools, which includes the importance of wearing masks for all students and staff. We know DESE will be sharing more on these guidelines soon.
This information may create confusion in our school community. Please know that Rockwood will need to carefully review and examine these guidelines before we would consider any new processes in our school district.
As always, we will have conversations with St. Louis County health officials and medical and healthcare professionals on how to best care for the health of our students and staff. In Rockwood, our first priority remains the safety of our students and staff.
Our school nurses and contact tracing teams will continue their work to confirm cases and quarantine individuals deemed close contacts. Our Rockwood Safe Together
practices mean that we wear a mask, wash/sanitize our hands, maintain social distance, and don’t come to school when we are sick. This approach to prevention is what every member of our community needs to remember.
We know that keeping our schools safe is a communitywide endeavor. This battle against COVID-19 will require every one of us to practice the mitigation efforts we depend on every day. In Rockwood, we will do the right thing for the greater good on behalf of our students and staff.
