Rockwood School District was recognized with the 2019-2020 Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). This is the 20th straight year that the ASBO has awarded an MBA to the district.
"Maintaining financial integrity and transparency remain at the forefront of our core values in Rockwood," said Chief Financial Officer Paul Northington. "Under the leadership of Dan Steinbruegge, director of finance
, we continue to be recognized at both the state and national level for our budget practices, presentations and overall fiscal management. It is rewarding to know that we have received this recognition for 20 consecutive years."
ASBO International’s MBA and Pathway to the MBA promote and recognize best budget
presentation practices in school districts. Participants submit their applications and budget
documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for
compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements and provide expert
feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents.
Districts that successfully demonstrate they have met the necessary program requirements
may earn either the MBA or Pathway to the MBA, an introductory program that allows
districts to ease into full MBA compliance.
