Rockwood parents received their children's individual STAR Reading and Math results Tuesday, Oct. 2 via secure email. The STAR assessments consist of computer-adaptive items designed to provide near-instant feedback on student performance and learning. Each STAR assessment takes approximately 25 minutes to complete.
Rockwood officials sent these results via an electronic communication similar to the one used for 2018-2019 final report cards and 2019 MAP test results. It included instructions for retrieving STAR scores. The email came from Rockwood Research, Evaluation and Assessment with the subject line "STAR Reading Report" or "STAR Math Report." If parents would like printed copies, they can contact their child's school office.
Students receiving reports:
--STAR Reading - All students in grades 2-8 and students in ninth grade ELA courses (excluding honors and ALARP courses).
--STAR Math - All students in grades 2-8 except those in high school math courses (Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry).
Assessments are primarily used to inform classroom instruction and to set learning goals. First-grade reports are not delivered at this time while our first-grade learners develop their reading stamina and adjust to online testing. If there are ever concerns, parents are notified in a timely manner.
Please contact your school office and review this video for support in understanding the results. Please call the Rockwood Help Desk for assistance accessing the report at (636) 733-1169.
