The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Jameelah Spann as a new assistant principal at Rockwood South Middle
beginning July 1. Dr. Spann replaces Mrs. Cassandra Walker Suggs, who has been named the new principal at Wildwood Middle.
Currently, Dr. Spann is an assistant principal at Cleveland Junior Naval Academy in St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS), a position she has held since 2018. She is also an adjunct professor in the College of Education at Harris-Stowe State University. Prior to her current position, she served as the dean of students and assistant principal at Roosevelt High School. She also has experience as a testing and Advanced Placement coordinator and taught for 10 years in SLPS.
Dr. Spann earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Psychology from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. She also has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University.
“I am thrilled to join Rockwood South Middle School as the newly appointed assistant principal,” shared Dr. Spann. “I am both honored and excited to have the opportunity to support a school community with such a rich tradition of education. I am looking forward to this amazing new journey.”
Dr. Spann and her husband live with their two sons and a daughter in St. Louis.
