Dear Rockwood Community,
As we continue to respond to changing health guidelines to keep students and staff safe, we want to communicate new information pertaining to summer activities on our campuses.
To ensure the safety of students and staff, Rockwood administrators have followed the guidance of the St. Louis Sports Medicine COVID-19 Task Force for recommendations on student sports and activities. Effective Monday, July 20, 2020, the guidelines will require schools to return to Phase 1 of the Resocialization of Sports Guidelines.
The revised guideline requires no more than 10 individuals, including coaches, in a space at a time. Social distancing should continue during this phase. Masks or face coverings must be worn by athletes, coaches, officials, referees and umpires any time they are not doing strenuous physical activity.
The task force is recommending this action due to the increase of COVID-19 positive cases in the community, specifically in the youth and adolescent age ranges.
If an athlete or coach is confirmed to have COVID-19, the following should occur: Individuals who have had a significant exposure (defined as direct contact or prolonged exposure greater than 15 minutes within six feet without a mask) to a positive COVID-19 individual must quarantine for 14 days from the last date of exposure. Please note that a negative test during a student-athlete's 14-day quarantine does not allow an individual to return sooner than the 14 days. Individuals are excluded from practice and play if experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
Coaches at individual schools will contact students with more information on changes to upcoming schedules.
As always, the well-being and health of our students and staff is our priority. Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping to keep our students and staff safe.
