On Nov. 12, Rockwood's Communications Department sent a voice message via our automatic notification system cancelling school due to inclement weather. Several parents and staff members who normally receive our calls did not receive this one.
In working with the provider of our automatic notification service, we have learned that this issue was the result of phone carriers' new efforts to block spam messages (robocalls) on behalf of their customers.
How Can I Better Ensure Receiving Future Rockwood Calls?
By entering phone numbers into your contacts, your phone carrier will "recognize" those callers and will be less likely to block them as unwanted calls. From the master phone number list below, please enter into your contacts the main Rockwood automated call line (636-733-1155) and the main school numbers where your children attend.
What Else Can I Do to Ensure I Receive Communications from Rockwood?
- Please verify that your contact information is current in Infinite Campus. This can be done by logging into your Infinite Campus account and viewing your contact information. If any information needs to be updated, please contact your child's school.
- Update any third party apps on your phone that are designated to block robocalls. Most robocall apps have a phone number "allow" list. Be sure to allow the district's main automated call number (636-733-1155) and your child's main school phone number.
- Check your voicemail. Many mobile phones that block robocalls do receive voice messages. Rockwood's automatic notification system will leave a voice message if allowed.
- Visit the district website at rsdmo.org. All school cancellations and major communications are posted on the website.
We will continue to work with our automatic notification provider as changes evolve in the wireless industry. We also will send text and email messages to supplement voice messages. Learn more about how Rockwood communicates with families.
