Board of Education Approves 4 Minor Boundary Changes for Rockwood Elementary Schools

At its March 26 meeting, the Rockwood Board of Education approved four minor boundary changes that affect seven elementary schools but have no impact on any current Rockwood students.

In a presentation to the Board, Rockwood Chief Financial Officer Cyndee Byous explained that the district is recommending these changes to elementary school boundaries in order to accommodate new subdivisions in their entirety within a single elementary school and that school’s feeder pattern.

The four changes are:

  • Westland Acres: Moving a boundary to include nine lots that are currently zoned for Wild Horse Elementary into the Chesterfield Elementary area, where the other 41 lots in the subdivision reside.
  • Rockwood Meadows: This is currently vacant land on which 56 townhomes are proposed to be built. As of now, Blevins and Geggie elementary lines cut through the proposed development. The proposed change would absorb the entire development into the Blevins attendance area.
  • 44 West Apartments: The west side of the development was built first and is zoned for Stanton Elementary. Families in the east side of the development - zoned for Uthoff Valley Elementary - were informed by the property management company that they would be attending Stanton, and that is where these students currently attend. This boundary correction would absorb the entire apartment complex into the Stanton attendance area.
  • Pin High Court: A cul-de-sac in the housing development straddles the Eureka and Geggie elementary boundaries. The homes in that area had no enrolled students when the families moved in, but that will soon change. The boundary correction would make it so that the entire neighborhood is zoned for Eureka, rather than the cul-de-sac remaining in Geggie’s boundary.

Byous stressed that, again, no current Rockwood students are affected by these boundary corrections. This recommendation is to correct for current realities and plan for future contingencies.

With Board approval, formal maps will be prepared for recording in St. Louis and Jefferson counties, and the maps on the district website will be corrected. You can find more information about the boundary changes at this link.
