Board of Education Approves Hire of Kristen Miller as Rockwood Summit Assistant Principal

The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Kristen Miller as a new assistant principal at Rockwood Summit High, beginning July 1. She replaces Josten Oglesby, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Currently, Miller serves as the principal at Walden Grove High in Sahuarita, Arizona, a position she has held since 2022. Prior to that, she served as an assistant principal there for three years. She has also served as the professional development facilitator in the Sahuarita Unified School District since 2019. She has six years of high school teaching experience as a science and leadership development teacher. Miller also served as the student council advisor, instructional coach and a new teacher mentor while working at Walden Grove. She also coached girls soccer for two years and participated in the Principals’ Leadership Academy of Arizona.

Miller earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Central Methodist University, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a Post-Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

"I am incredibly blessed to be joining the Falcon Family,” said Miller. “I have spent 12 years in education as a teacher, mentor and administrator striving to create opportunities for growth and achievement. I believe in working alongside the students, staff and community to foster a positive and supportive learning environment that helps all students thrive. I am excited to meet the RSHS community, especially the class of 2029 and their families as we start our journey at Rockwood Summit together."

Miller currently lives with her husband, Lucas, in Sahuarita. They are both originally from the St. Louis area, and they share they are very excited to be returning home.
